The Law and Society Students' Association acknowledges that our endeavours span numerous Indigenous territories across the expanse now known as Canada. With 70 treaties signed between the Crown and Indigenous nations, alongside unceded territories in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia, we recognize the complex landscape of Indigenous land rights. Situated in Tkaronto (Toronto, Ontario), our university and office stand upon ancestral lands of various Indigenous nations, including the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit. Indigenous peoples maintain their presence and connection to these lands. We are mindful of the enduring challenges confronting Indigenous communities and pledge to cultivate genuine partnerships, champion Indigenous rights, and prioritize Indigenous perspectives in all our endeavours. Let us deeply consider the histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples as we endeavour to construct a future founded upon mutual respect, understanding, and reconciliation.
